Santander Spain strengthens its commitment to Lanzarote and tourism innovation with the visit of its CEO, Ángel Rivera, who has met with business leaders from Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, and has learned in depth about the Marina Innova Hub project, in Arrecife.

Rivera has reinforced Santander's support for the Marina Innova Hub (MIHUB) project, during his visit accompanied by representatives from Turium, a tourism excellence cluster of which the bank is a partner. This hub, created in Lanzarote and promoted by the Martínez Abolafio Group in collaboration with the island's companies, has the support of Santander, Telefónica, ORACLE and MAHOU San Miguel, among other companies.

The support for the Marina Innova Hub project is an example of Santander's strategy of contributing to the economic development and the business fabric in the Canary Islands, and helping to create an innovative ecosystem in the region, with a focus on sustainable tourism.

With this objective, the "Innovation Forum in the Tourism Sector" was held, whose opening was led by Peio Oiz, director of Marina Innova Hub; Samary Fernández, general director of the Luxury, Lifestyle and Magazines area of Grupo Vocento; and Beatriz Martínez, territorial director of Banco Santander in the Canary Islands.

During his speech, José Martínez, CEO of the Martínez Abolafio Group stated "the future of tourism is not about more beds, it comes from doing more and better, improving the accommodation and complementary services offer, and increasing quality and billing. In all of this, Marina Innova Hub and its open innovation programs play and will play a fundamental role in designing a differentiated and unique tourism offer in the world."

The CEO of Santander Spain stated that innovation and technology are the instruments that companies have to prepare for changes: "They can help us to be more efficient, faster and more effective in solving problems and offer a better service or product to our customers."
