The number of companies registered in Lanzarote has grown in the last year to reach 4,960 in July, which means an increase of 382 businesses in the last twelve months, according to a report by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.

Specifically, in July 2021 the figure marked a total of 4,578 companies, 8.3% less than in the same period this year, which confirms that the end of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic and the recovery of tourism continue to contribute to the creation of businesses in Lanzarote.

After a slight decline in the months of May and June this year, in which Lanzarote lost six businesses, the creation of companies recovers the positive path and with 4,960, exceeds the peak reached in April this year, when 4,934 registered businesses were counted.

Companies by municipality

By municipalities, the capital of Lanzarote continues to host the largest number of companies, with a total of 1,874 businesses, although its growth seems stagnant in recent months.

In second place is Tías, where twelve new companies have been created in the last month, reaching 1,064. Teguise, with 718, has registered thirteen new companies in the last month; Yaiza with 646, registers nine new companies in July; San Bartolomé, with 464, loses three.

Tinajo, for its part, adds two new companies in the last month, reaching 137 businesses, and finally, Haría, which loses one company and remains at 112 registered businesses.
