Endesa has already installed 90% of the new smart meters in Lanzarote

Endesa has installed 69,683 smart meters in Lanzarote, which means that it has renovated 90% of the total meters it manages on the island. The replacement of meters is carried out, in accordance with current legislation, to customers who have a contracted power equal to or less than 15 kW, all of which must have these new devices installed before the end of 2018. Throughout the Canary Islands, the number of smart meters installed is 1,107,681, while in Spain more than 11 million have already been exceeded.

Endesa has invested 600 million euros in this renovation process for the period 2015-2018 and, at the end of this year, only those cases whose resolution requires the collaboration of customers will remain pending, mainly difficulties in accessing the home or the need to adapt and reform the facilities. The renovation of the meters is key for the development of smart grids and to adapt to the needs derived from the new electrical uses and services that the company is implementing, from the promotion of the electric vehicle to home automation applications, through the integration of distributed generation.

Endesa's remote management plan also involves the installation of concentrators in the transformation centers that collect data from the meters and send them to the distributor. As of today, the 11 million meters installed are associated with more than 134,000 concentrators, which allows their integration into the system and that the customer benefits from the first moment of the advantages offered by the new device. If you want to know more, click here
