The CEL is confident that the purchase of Naviera Armas will improve connectivity in the Canary Islands

The president of the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL), Beatriz Salazar, is confident that the purchase of Naviera Armas-Trasmediterránea by Baleària will ensure and improve the maritime connectivity of the Canary Islands, an operation from which she expects “stability and guarantees for ship transport, which is essential in a fragmented territory like the islands.” Her analysis comes after the formalization of the agreement to acquire the company's activity and traffic in the archipelago, the Alborán Sea, and part of the Strait.

Beatriz Salazar predicts that the operation, which must now be submitted to the evaluation of the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC), “will allow strengthening the service of transferring people, vehicles, and goods at a regional level, making it much more competitive in favor of greater territorial cohesion.”

In addition, she points out that this operation
