The Parliament of the Canary Islands held an institutional concert on the occasion of Canary Islands Day on Tuesday night in the Patio de Honor of the autonomous Chamber, in an evening marked by emotion, citizen participation, and the encounter between culture and institutions.

The recital featured performances by tenor Pancho Corujo, soprano Carmen Acosta, and pianist Javier Laso, who offered a repertoire that combined emblematic pieces of Canarian music and great international lyrical classics.

The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, highlighted that "opening the doors of Parliament to share music, culture, and our traditions with the citizens is also a way of celebrating what we are as a people."

The performance began with Siete Rosas, by Los Huaracheros and Alfredo González Santamaría, in a close and participatory atmosphere, as the Parliament opened the doors of the Patio de Honor so that citizens could enjoy the concert alongside deputies.

The program continued with renowned works from the international operatic repertoire such as Mattinata, by Leoncavallo; Quando m’en vo, from La Bohème by Puccini; La donna è mobile, from Rigoletto by Verdi; Casta Diva, from Norma by Bellini; Nessun dorma, from Turandot by Puccini; and O mio babbino caro, from Gianni Schicchi, also by Puccini.

Furthermore, throughout the night, the facade of the Parliament of the Canary Islands remained illuminated with the colors of the Canary Islands flag, thus adding to the commemorative and festive atmosphere of an event dedicated to the identity and culture of the archipelago.

The celebration is part of the events organized by the Parliament of the Canary Islands on the occasion of Canary Islands Day, a date dedicated to highlighting the identity, culture, and sense of belonging of the Canarian people.
