This Tuesday, the Parliament of the Canary Islands commemorated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls by inviting the deputies, and all the staff of the House, to participate in an action that has staged its support and commitment in the fight for the elimination of any type of violence against women and girls around the world.

“From the Parliament, where we work every day of the year to promote the necessary legislation for a society in which violence against women and girls has no place, we want to tell the victims that they are not alone”, said the president, Astrid Pérez, after inaugurating the commemorative floral mural of this date.

The members of the Bureau joined this action in which the First Vice President, Ana Oramas, pointed out that “from the institutions we will continue fighting in memory of those who are not here, of their sons and daughters, to eradicate gender violence”. Likewise, the Second Vice President, Gustavo Matos; the First Secretary of the Bureau, Mario Cabrera, and the Second Secretary, Patricia Hernández, left their messages on a mural that was filled with phrases against violence against women and girls throughout the day.

The commemorative mural will be exhibited in the hall of the House throughout the week for the participation of staff and all deputies.
