The Government of the Canary Islands has lowered this Thursday the Covid alert level on the island of Fuerteventura, which was the only one that remained at 2, while it has maintained all the others at 1, including Lanzarote and La Graciosa. "The entire archipelago is at low risk of contagion," they emphasize from the Ministry of Health.
"The favorable evolution of transmission and healthcare indicators is confirmed, although an upward trend was observed in the IA7days in Lanzarote, with subsequent stabilization and decrease from October 2, which the General Directorate of Public Health is closely monitoring in case there is any significant change," warns the Ministry.
The weekly report of the General Directorate of Public Health reflects that between October 6 and 12, 368 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the Canary Islands, which represents a decrease of 17.5 in the daily average compared to the previous week. "This decrease has occurred similarly throughout the Islands," they specify.
The IA7d in the community as a whole has decreased by 21.1%, in accordance with the decrease in the number of cases. "In general, the trend of the last fifteen days is decreasing and the daily average of the IA14d rate has also decreased in all the Islands, with an overall drop of 17.2%," adds the Ministry.
The cumulative incidence rate of COVID-19 cases in the last week is 3.1 times higher in the population that has not received any dose of vaccine, compared to the rate in the population that has received the full course.
Decrease in healthcare pressure
Regarding healthcare pressure indicators, the Ministry of Health emphasizes that the number of conventional hospital beds occupied by Covi-19 patients has decreased by 19.8% compared to the previous week, with an average of 73 daily beds occupied each day.
In all the islands, the occupancy percentage is at a very low risk level, while the decrease in the number of ICU beds continues since it began seven weeks ago, with ten fewer beds occupied on average, going from 36 to 26 in the last fifteen days.
Finally, the average age of all people hospitalized for Covid-19 in the last 14 days is 58 years, with an increase of 5.5 years compared to the previous evaluation.
