The Government Council of the Canary Islands has approved this Monday the appointment of Fernando Figuereo Force as the new general director of Emergencies of the regional Executive, replacing José Marrón, who resigned from his position a few weeks ago for personal reasons. Figuereo Force, a lawyer by profession, has an extensive political career and his last responsibility had been as an auditing advisor in the Canary Islands Court of Auditors.
Fernando Figuereo Force (Badalona, Barcelona, 1961) holds a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and has been a practicing lawyer since 1989. During the seventh legislature of the Canary Islands, he was a deputy of the Popular Party and served as president of the Tourism and Transport Commission and the Commission on the case of missing children in the Canary Islands. In the following legislature he was also a deputy of the Popular Party, as well as president of the Commission of Deputies and Petitions. In both legislatures he was a member of the Standing Committee of the Regional Chamber.
In 2015 he was elected by the Parliament of the Canary Islands as an auditing advisor of the Canary Islands Court of Auditors, a position he has held until now.
