Deaths from coronavirus in the Canary Islands have skyrocketed in recent days, and since last Friday the Ministry of Health has reported a total of 16 deaths, eleven in Tenerife and five in Gran Canaria. All the people, aged between 60 and 96 years, had previous pathologies and were in hospital admission.
In addition, the Ministry of Health has added a total of 2,027 new positives for Covid-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is monitored after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.
Therefore, the accumulated cases of coronavirus among this group amounts to 85,728 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Accumulated Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 1,646.43 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 876.82.
Currently, in the archipelago there are 477 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 23 are in the ICU and the rest, 454, in the ward.
