The Governing Council agreed during its session this Wednesday to appoint Blas Acosta as Deputy Minister of Economy and Internationalization, replacing Almudena Estévez.

A graduate in Business Administration and Management from the Camilo José Cela University and with a master's degree in Tax Law and Tax Advice, Blas Acosta was also vice president and Minister of Tourism in the Cabildo of Fuerteventura during the last term (2015-2019), when he also served as vice president of the Technological Park of Fuerteventura and the Water Consortium.

In the period 2011-2015, Blas Acosta held the responsibility of vice president and Minister of Tourism and Territorial Planning, also in the Island Corporation of Fuerteventura, after serving in the previous term (2007-2011) as councilor spokesperson for the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in the opposition.

Deputy mayor and councilor for Economy and Finance, Planning and Development, Tourism, Housing and Urbanism in the Pájara City Council between 2003 and 2015, Blas Acosta began his political career as a councilor for the PSOE in the opposition of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura from 1999 to 2003.

The Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands incorporates Blas Acosta Cabrera (Tarajalejo, Fuerteventura, 1969) into its organizational chart, after his resignation as president and Minister of Tourism in the Cabildo of Fuerteventura since 2019.
