This is the highest distinction of the Government, which recognizes "the merits of those who provide or have provided eminent services to the Canary Islands or the Canarians".

The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands has published this Friday Decree 50/2024, of May 6, which grants the Collar of the Order of the Canary Islands to the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, and to the former presidents of the Chamber Antonio Castro Cordobez, Gabriel Mato Adrover, Carolina Darias San Sebastián and Gustavo Matos Expósito. The Collar of the Order of the Canary Islands is the highest distinction of the Government and recognizes "the merits of those who provide or have provided eminent services to the Canary Islands or the Canarians."

The president of the Chamber, Astrid Pérez, assures that "it will be a great honor to receive the highest distinction from the Government of the Autonomous Community. As president of the Parliament, I will wear this decoration with enormous pride and as a sign of my firm commitment and my vocation to serve the Canary Islands and the people who live in this land. I deeply appreciate this very high recognition."

The institutional act of awarding these decorations will be next Friday, May 17, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The Canarian president Fernando Clavijo and the former presidents of the Canary Islands Ángel Víctor Torres, Adán Martín and Paulino Rivero, as well as the presidents and former presidents of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) Juan Luis Lorenzo Bragado, Antonio Castro Feliciano, Jose Ramón Navarro Miranda and Antonio Doreste Armas will also receive this distinction.
