The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has received this Friday a new shipment of sanitary material from China and acquired directly by the regional Executive to face the spread of Covid-19. The merchandise, which arrived on a plane at 11.30 am, is the fourth shipment acquired directly.
The merchandise includes 516,000 type 2 surgical masks, 45,080 FPP2 masks, 1,600 overalls and 3,000 gowns for healthcare and social healthcare personnel facing the Covid-19 pandemic in the Canary Islands. "This is a basic material for daily consumption in all health centers, both Hospital Care and Primary Care," say from the regional government.
This material will be completed with another shipment, also of direct acquisition by the Canary Government, which will arrive in the next few hours and with which it says that "the necessary equipment supplies for the next few weeks will be guaranteed." So far, the regional executive has made an investment of 16 million euros for the different batches of material that will arrive each week and that is complemented by those sent by the Ministry of Health.
In total, the material received this Friday is added to the 2,110,000 surgical masks, 58,200 diagnostic kits, 7,500 protective screens, 4,000 protective glasses, 505,000 nitrile gloves, 33,540 FFP2 masks, 23,200 plastic surgical gowns, and 100 integral overalls. In addition to 28 respirators for patients affected by COVID-19 and 1,750 swabs for collecting samples for PCR diagnosis.
