Unión Deportiva Lanzarote has closed the hiring of a new player who will reinforce the first team in the final stretch of the season. The Rojillos have acquired the services of defender Josu Esnaola, who will occupy the spot left by Adrián Martín after suffering a long-term injury. The player is expected to join training on Tuesday and be under the orders of Quico de Diego.
Josu Esnaola Atxiega, born on October 31, 1986 in Orio (Guipúzcoa), plays as a central defender. He started this season at Real Unión in the Second Division B, a club he joined on loan from Real Sociedad. In the winter market, Real Unión decided to release the player and since then Josu Esnaola has been without a team.
He has trained as a player in the lower categories of Real Sociedad and even played several matches in the Second Division A last season. Josu Esnaola arrives on loan to UD Lanzarote from Real Sociedad.
The new signing of UD Lanzarote will occupy the place of Adrián Martín, a player who underwent ankle surgery in February. Finally, the Spanish Football Federation has considered that it is a long-term absence and this will allow UD Lanzarote to reinforce itself.
If air connections allow it, which are very complicated on the Easter dates we are in, the player is expected to arrive in Lanzarote on Tuesday. And he would join the team's training on Tuesday afternoon, placing himself under the orders of Quico de Diego.
