The 2011-2012 season began for UD Lanzarote and CD Corralejo, and it did so with a goalless draw between the two teams. It was not a good match played by the locals and visitors, with few dangerous chances and a lack of ideas in the final meters. Corralejo pressed in the first twenty minutes of the second half and found an excellent Santi Lampón who saved the day for UD Lanzarote.

The match between UD Lanzarote and CD Corralejo was like a typical start-of-season clash. Little rhythm and most of the game took place in the center of the field. UD Lanzarote was the one trying to take the lead in the match. The framework woven by coach Miguel Santana on the field prevented UD Lanzarote from feeling comfortable on the pitch.

The dangerous chances in this first half came from set pieces. The clearest one was for UD Lanzarote. In the 23rd minute, Ayoze Pérez took a free kick from the left side and David Dorta headed it point-blank over the crossbar. As the minutes passed, the match became more balanced and lacked continuity in ball circulation.

The first half concluded with a chance for UD Lanzarote. Echedey tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the area and his effort went just past the post of the goal defended by Jero. The first 45 minutes of the match ended with a goalless draw.

CD Corralejo pinned UD Lanzarote in their own half for the first 20 minutes of the second half. These were the best minutes of the visiting team during the match and they certainly deserved better luck. The first warning was given by Héctor with a shot from inside the area and Santi Lampón stretched to prevent the ball from sneaking into his goal.

The clearest chance came in the 15th minute. After a long ball, David Dorta and Adrián were unable to clear the ball, Isa won the back of the red-and-white defense and when he tried to lift the ball, he found the body of Santi Lampón. Once again, the UD Lanzarote goalkeeper intervened to prevent the first goal. And in the 24th minute, a double chance for the visitors. First Isa and then Dino, tested Lampón's reflexes.

The coach of UD Lanzarote, Fabián Rivero, brought on Gustavo García in the center of the field, with the aim of giving more mobility to the ball circulation. As the minutes passed, the locals shook off Corralejo's dominance.

UD Lanzarote pressed in the final minutes of the match and that's when the best chances for the locals came. In the 37th minute, a free kick from Gustavo García was headed by David Dorta and the header went just wide. And minutes later, Rosmen cut inside on the edge of the area and the shot that was looking for the base of the post, was met by Jero's glove to prevent the goal.

The final minutes were open, although neither of the two teams was able to get close to either goal with danger. The match ended with a goalless draw. Lanzarote and Corralejo start the season with a draw and open their points tally. In the next matchday, UD Lanzarote visits UD Las Palmas Atlético and CD Corralejo hosts San Andrés y Sauces.
