Iván Arenas and Adrian Sikora, win the doubles of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II

The final of the doubles draw of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II was decided on the side of the Spanish Iván Arenas and the Slovenian Adrián Sikora, winning by a double 6/2 against Eduard Esteve and Oriol Roca

The Central Court "Alex Corretja" hosted the final of the doubles draw of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II on Friday afternoon. A final that was decided on the side of the couple formed by the Spanish Iván Arenas Gualda and the Slovenian Adrian Sikora. They needed little more than an hour to take the champion title, in a final that they dominated from the beginning. The Spaniards Eduard Esteve and Oriol Roca had to settle for the runner-up of the tournament. Friday also served to know the four players who access the semifinals of the individual draw.

The final of the doubles draw would begin with a double break by Iván Arenas and Adrian Sikora, breaking the serve of Eduard Esteve and Oriol Roca twice. In a few minutes Arenas and Sikora took a 0/4 lead and closed the first set with a forceful score of 2/6.

The second set seemed that it was going to be more even than the first, until in the third game Iván Arenas and Adrián Sikora achieved the first service break. A situation that would be repeated in the fifth game, placing Arenas and Sikora with a favorable 1/4. The only break of the match by Eduard Esteve and Oriol Roca was obtained in the sixth game, although again Arenas and Sikora returned the service break to their opponents. This second set also concluded with the result of 6/2.

The Spanish Iván Arenas and the Slovenian Adrian Sikora were proclaimed champions of the doubles draw of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II, a tournament valid for the ATP ranking and endowed with $10,000 in prize money. Futures Lanzarote, organizer of the tournament, was in charge of delivering the champion and runner-up trophies of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II.

 

Defined the semifinals of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II

 

On Friday, the four matches of the quarterfinals of the ITF Isla de Lanzarote II were played and served to know the name of the four tennis players who access the semifinals of the tournament. One of the most attractive matches of the day was the one that faced the Spanish José Checa Calvo against the Russian Alexey Vatutin, in what could be considered an anticipated final. The Spanish, number one seed, won 6/4 and 6/3 against the winner of last week's tournament and takes a giant step to fight for the final victory.

Frederico Ferreira (Portugal), finalist last week, was eliminated from the tournament in the quarterfinals and lost by a double 6/4 against the Italian Andrea Basso. Iván Arenas won in three sets against Jaime Pulgar (7/6, 5/7 and 6/1). And the fourth semifinalist will be Adrián Sikora who won in the first set by 6/4 against Philip Davydenko and in the second the Russian retired due to injury with 4/1 in favor of the Slovenian.

The two semifinal matches will be played this Saturday on the central court "Alex Corretja" of the Fariones Sports Center in Puerto del Carmen. At 11:00 am the Spanish duel between José Checa Calvo and Iván Arenas Gualda will be played. And at the end of this match will begin the match between Andrea Basso (Italy) and Adrian Sikora (Slovenia).
