A goalless draw was the result of the match between Haría CF and San Bartolomé CF on Friday night, in the first leg of the First Regional play-off final. The two teams played an attractive match, with San Bartolomé having the best chances. Goalkeeper Igrail, with his great interventions, prevented his team from conceding a goal.
The match started with a frenetic pace and there was little time to wait to see the first dangerous actions. In the 3rd minute, San Bartolomé, through Rubén González, had a good chance, but goalkeeper Igrail thwarted the action. And immediately afterwards, Yemsen stood inside the area and his cross-shot was repelled by the post of the goal.
As the minutes passed, the game became more balanced, the teams did not want to make mistakes and give facilities to the opponent. It would be San Bartolomé who looked more comfortable on the pitch and as the minutes went by they had more possession of the ball. For their part, Haría played in bursts and every time their attacking players had the ball they gave a great sensation of danger.
In the 16th minute Rubén González once again tested Igrail's reflexes. After a cross from the right wing, the San Bartolomé striker headed the ball and the Haría goalkeeper with an excellent stretch prevented the ball from sneaking into his goal.
The best chance for San Bartolomé came in the 28th minute. Cristian brought down an opponent inside the area and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Rubén González was in charge of taking the penalty and again he met Igrail, who guessed his intention, cleared the shot and the ball ended up crashing into the base of the post. This is the second penalty that San Bartolomé has missed in the Regional play-off.
Minutes later, the coach of Haría CF, José Manuel Morant, who had to watch the match from outside the bench as he was suspended, had to make a forced change. Cristian left the field injured and Efrén took his place. A change that modified the system, moving Luis Carlos from midfield to full-back and Yemsen was placed in the centre of the field.
Until the end of the first half the match developed in bursts, but it was no longer as attractive as in the first minutes. Most of the game was played in the centre of the pitch. The first 45 minutes would end with a goalless draw.
The second half started with a chance for San Bartolomé. Two minutes after the restart, David Alonso controlled a ball at the far post and his low shot was cleared by Igrail for a corner. Haría's response came in the 16th minute, after an individual play by Gaumet, his shot from the edge of the area was stopped by Agoney and Fran could not take advantage of the rebound.
In the 66th minute San Bartolomé had another dangerous chance. David Alonso won the back of the Haría defence, stood before Igrail, but could not overcome the stretch of the northern goalkeeper, being a defender who cleared the ball definitively under the posts.
The intensity in the game of the two teams faded as the minutes passed. As the end of the match approached, the respect was accentuated and neither wanted to make mistakes. It seemed that both teams were happy with the goalless draw and leave the tie open for the return leg.
The last chance of the match was for San Bartolomé. After a ball hung to the heart of the area, Rubén González finished with a heel and Igrail responded again, showing good reflexes and deflecting the ball to a corner.
With the goalless draw the match came to an end and the final of the First Regional play-off will have to be decided in the return leg. A match that will be played next Friday from 21:00 hours in the Municipal de Las Palmeras.
