Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote did not have an easy match on Sunday morning to close out the year 2021, visiting the always complicated court of Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza. The Galicians showed their danger in the first half, a period in which they took advantage of the Lanzarote team's mistakes to gain an important advantage. San José Obrero's reaction came in the second half, intensifying their defense and turning the score around.
The match began with a goal from Joel Armas from the left wing, but Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza soon reacted to take the initiative. Both teams played with a 6:0 defense, with the locals' defense being more effective, which caused several failures in the visitors' attack. In addition, in defense, Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote was making many concessions.
The coach of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote, Iñaki Malumbres, took just twelve minutes to request a time-out, seeing how Cañiza gained a five-goal advantage (7-2). After the instructions from the bench, San José Obrero began to play with a 5:1 defense with Joel Armas in the advanced position. A defensive system that also did not give the expected results.
The Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote players were having many lapses in attack and defense. In attack, they lost balls due to inaccuracies and rushing when passing. And in defense, they allowed the opposing team's players to find gaps to easily beat Javi Santana.
Iñaki Malumbres requested the second time-out with eight minutes remaining until halftime (13-8). In the minutes remaining until the end of the first half, Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote was able to make up the result, reaching the end of the first 30 minutes of the match with a score of 17 to 14.
The panorama of the match changed radically in the second half, with a more intense Gourmet Ampate in defense that began to suffocate the attacks of Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza. The goals of Carmelo Álvarez (2), Adrián Ruiz and Rubén Caraballo, tied the score when only eight minutes had been played (19-19), forcing the local coach to request a time-out.
The center Alberto Roldán, a player who was in charge of directing his team's attacks in this match, was in charge of putting Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote ahead after the time-out (19-20). Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza reacted with two goals from Daniel Pintus from the wing, being one of the most dangerous players for the Galicians during the match.
With nine minutes remaining until the end of the match, Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote definitively broke the match. Acoidán Martín put the Lanzarote team ahead by scoring after a steal in defense. Immediately afterwards, Rubén Caraballo and Roc Segarra scored, putting the score at 23 to 26, with the local coach requesting another time-out. Joel Armas increased the difference to four goals after the time-out (23-27).
Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza began to play with a double mixed defense on Alberto Roldán and Acoidán Martín, trying to provoke errors in the visitors' attacks. Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote played calmly, to end up winning by 26 to 30 and adding two gold points in a more than complicated court.
