Exciting day of Latin sailing on the day of the celebration of San Ginés, patron saint of Arrecife. The weather conditions allowed the celebration of two races, recovering the heat postponed two weeks ago due to the strong wind. The Congelados Africamar was the most regular, achieving victory in the two races disputed and placing itself at the head of the general classification of the Insular League of Latin Sailing Barquillos of Lanzarote.

The first of the two races was developed with complicated wind conditions, which increased as the day progressed. The wind was about 16 knots of intensity, from the north and rolling to the northeast. The race course was composed of a buoy in the high seas and two beacons located in the area of the dock of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports, having to give the boats four laps to this route.

The Congelados Africamar, captained by Nete Armas, was placed in the first position, being intense the fight with respect to the rest of positions. The Playa Blanca, captained by Yonathan Umpiérrez, starred in a great comeback, which allowed him to mount in the first place the penultimate beacon of the race course. Up to three boats, Centro Insular de Deportes Náuticos III, Pescamar Titerroy  and Guatiza, could not finish the race and had to retire.

In the last upwind, the Congelados Africamar recovered the first position, to score the victory at the finish line. The Furia II, captained by Estanis Bethencourt, and the Playa Blanca were marked in the upwind, a circumstance that was taken advantage of by the Biosfera Express, captained by Manri Rodríguez, to sneak in as second in the finish line. The Playa Blanca had to settle for the third position and fourth was the Furia II.

The race course was changed in the second heat of the day, placing one of the beacons in the high seas and the other buoy on land next to the Cabildo de Lanzarote, being four the laps that the boats had to give to this route. As it happened in the first race of the morning, the Sailing School and the Isla Graciosa stayed on land due to the lack of crew, being 17 the boats that took the start.

The second race was a hand-to-hand between the Congelados Africamar and the Biosfera Express, being the two boats that soon took the lead and began to open a gap with respect to the rest of the boats. The boat captained by Nete Armas scored the victory, the second of the day and that allows him to lead the general classification of the Insular League of Latin Sailing Barquillos of 5 Meters.

The Biosfera Express had to settle for the second position. Third in the finish line was the CRI-Ricoh, captained by Orlando Umpiérrez, followed by the Guayre, of the veteran Emilio Tavío. The two boats experienced an improvement in this second race, which allowed them to be in the first positions of the classification.

The second race of Saturday was valid for the San Ginés Trophy of Latin Sailing, coinciding with the big day of the patron saint of the capital of the island. A day that concluded with the delivery of trophies of the San Ginés Regatta in the facilities of the Insular Federation of Latin Sailing Barquillos of Lanzarote, with a subsequent lunch for the sailors, family and companions.

On Sunday, September 2, the next race of the 5-meter modality is celebrated, with the dispute of the third race of the Insular League.
