The Lanzarote team Alexis Romero and Martín Domínguez with a Peugeot 208 R2 from the Raceseven team, continue to climb positions in the general standings after finishing the SS14 stage, the last of the day this Saturday.
After an exciting and hard-fought day on the dirt at the 54th Rallye RACC España-Cataluña, they had their first contact with asphalt on their third day of competition. "Today has been a very complicated day, but we managed to get through it by the skin of our teeth. It rained all day and the mud left by those in front on the road almost made us crash, but also on the long stages after 12km we ran out of brakes, so I had many very serious scares," commented Alexis just after finishing SS14.
The team continues to climb positions and set very good times in each stage with their Peugeot 208 R4, in SS14 with a time of 3:30.5 they set a 12th place in their category, finishing 6th in their group in the general classification. In the overall general classification the team is in 34th place with a time of 3:16:36.5, which makes clear the progress they are making in each stage.
This Sunday, the fourth and final day of the 54th RallyRACC, the penultimate round of the World Rally Championship, with two different sections to be run twice, Riudecanyes (16.35 km) and Santa Marina (14.50 km), the latter being the Power Stage. The two passes through Santa Marina will be televised live on Esport3 and Teledeporte (8:38 and 12:18 hours) on a day that will have 61.70 km of timed stages on asphalt to conclude at the Passeig de Jaume I in Salou, at 14:01, followed by the podium ceremony with the winners of their respective categories.
It is hoped that the car will not give any problems, "despite having run out of brakes today from Km. 11 of the stages due to air in the braking circuit, but they have already been bled and it is hoped that the car will come out well and without problems".
Finally, Alexis explains, "if it continues to rain tomorrow I am not going to take unnecessary risks because today we have seen that you can crash on any corner, but if the asphalt dawns dry we will try to increase today's pace without reaching the limit, the dream of a podium will not be in our heads but surely the dream of doing the best we can and enjoying the last day to the fullest and giving it our all"
