After the poor performance last Wednesday against CD Marino, UD Lanzarote overcame adversity and achieved a hard-fought victory against CD San Pedro Mártir. The Rojillos had to wait until the second half to get the victory on track and add three important points that allow them to climb positions in the standings. UD Lanzarote entrusted Alex Yunes to break the scoring drought, with the midfielder being the author of the team's two goals.
As has been usual in the matches that UD Lanzarote plays as a local, the Rojillos went all out at the beginning of the match. The first dangerous action came with a cross from Ángel Gil from the right wing and Alex Rojas's shot at the near post did not find the goal. Minutes later, Jotha executed a free kick and Alex Yunes barely managed to head the ball, which went into the hands of goalkeeper Majoni.
As the minutes passed, the pace of the match decreased and the game became muddled. CD San Pedro Mártir suffered an unexpected setback in the 25th minute. Central defender Eliot was injured and had to leave the field. In addition, minutes before José Manuel had suffered a cut on his left eyelid and had to be treated several times by the medical staff.
The clearest chance for UD Lanzarote came in the 35th minute. Vladimir entered the area on the left wing, penetrated into the area and his cross shot ended up hitting the base of the goalpost. San Pedro Mártir's response was not long in coming. In the 38th minute, the ball was loose inside the area after a cross from Tobas, the rebound was picked up by Jacinto who dribbled past goalkeeper Ruymán and his shot was cleared by Adrián Martín under the posts. These were the last two chances of the first half and the score would be tied at zero at halftime.
The second half began with a chance for UD Lanzarote. In the 2nd minute of the restart, Taja entered the area on the left and his cross-shot ended up hitting the outside of Majoni's goalpost. Minutes later, a cross from Toñito was headed by Alex Yunes, with the ball going into Majoni's hands.
UD Lanzarote took the lead in the 13th minute of the second half. Toñito won the end line on the left side, passed to Alex Yunes and he scored the goal that put UD Lanzarote ahead. Alex Yunes was having a lot of arrival in this match and found the reward for the work he was developing on the field.
San Pedro Mártir, after the goal, tried to stretch lines in search of the goal defended by Ruymán. On the counterattack, Lanzarote gave a great sensation of danger. In the 29th minute, Rosmen controlled a ball inside the area, passed to Alex Yunes and Majoni shone to prevent the second goal of UD Lanzarote. And San Pedro Mártir's response came just a minute later. Jacinto snatched a ball from Ruymán in the air and his shot into an empty net did not find the three posts.
The sentence would come in the last minute of the match. Alex Yunes entered the area on the left side and his powerful shot ended up sneaking inside the goal. A thunderbolt that the San Pedro Mártir goalkeeper could not respond to.
There was no time for more and with the 2-0 victory of UD Lanzarote the match came to an end. A triumph that allows the Rojillos not to lose sight of the first classified of the Third Division. In the next match, Lanzarote visits UD Telde.
