On June 17 of last year, we inaugurated a corporation in Teguise. Since then, I have the honor of leading the areas of Sports and Citizen Participation.

We have always heard that we must know our past to ensure our future. That Kantian thing, so common among armchair philosophers, was reflected in a painting that Paul Gauguin created in Tahiti in 1897 titled "Where Do We Come From? Who Are We? Where Are We Going? (in French: D'où venons nous? Qui sommes nous? Où allons nous?)". Faced with such a vital truth, possibly incontestable, the Department of Sports of Teguise understood that it was necessary to apply it to know what Teguise has been, where we are, and where we want to go from a sporting perspective. Therefore, in the coming months, we will work to get closer to the sports clubs and schools of the municipality, to their history, their present, and what they foresee for the future, drawing on the spirit of knowledge of Sports in our municipality.

Surely, the rest of the municipalities of Lanzarote and the Cabildo will see in this work an opportunity to settle accounts with the sport of Lanzarote, leaving as a legacy and within everyone's reach a work filled with videographic and written documents that will remain for posterity and will honor the sweat of all those athletes who have strived to take the good name of Lanzarote to the highest level in each specialty.

We will continue working arduously for those who were, for those who are, and for those who will be, and, ultimately, for the sport of Teguise and Lanzarote. The yellow brick road is written. Paul Gauguin's painting is preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
