Ryanair cancels one of its three flights between Fuerteventura and Dublin, putting the arrival of 20,000 tourists at risk

The airline Ryanair announced this Friday in Puerto del Rosario the cancellation of one of its three weekly frequencies between Fuerteventura and Dublin due to the "non-compliance" of its commercial agreements with the AIE (Grouping of Economic Interest and Promotion of Tourism Development of Fuerteventura) when it comes to satisfying its agreements to promote the flights of this airline.

The one that is considered one of the most important European low-fare airlines will cancel, as of November 6, the flight to Dublin on Thursdays from and to Fuerteventura. This cancellation means for the Island the loss of 20,000 Irish tourists, according to company data.

The airline Rynair operates in Fuerteventura since December 2006 with connections to Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany, and generates 250 jobs on the Island, with 14,000 jobs throughout the Spanish State.

The vice president of the company, Michael Cawley, said that "the passivity of the AIE is doomed to failure, either through legal actions or through the loss of thousands of visitors motivated by the reduction of Rynair flights from and to Fuerteventura."

The company did not want to give details of the points of disagreement with the AIE, with which they have maintained a commercial agreement since October 2007. Likewise, Ryanair officials have not conditioned this decision to suppress flights to reaching an agreement to re-establish the aforementioned frequency.
