The Councilor for Education of the Arrecife City Council, Francisca Toledo, has rectified the statements she made this Monday on Radio Lanzarote and has clarified that it is the company in charge of the cleaning service of the schools of Arrecife that has not been paid by the City Council and not the workers. "Maybe the mistake was mine," she said.
The councilor assures that the workers "have been paid on time" the payrolls, but that it is the City Council that owes some invoices to the company in charge of the service, Perfaler Canarias S.L. Some invoices that Francisca Toledo hopes will be paid "before the 20th".
"Not only is the company up to date with its workers, but they also do their job exquisitely and we can only show our gratitude for it," said the councilor.
According to her, the current lack of liquidity suffered by the Consistory has prevented the timely payment of the cleaning service to the awarded company, "which has been understanding and sensitive to the situation, which we hope to resolve as soon as possible".
However, the councilor of the capital Consistory has not been able to specify the exact amount owed to the company. "I know they charge about 47,000 euros per month, but also for other services they provide apart from cleaning the schools," she said.
