Carolina Marín will be present at the course “Sports Tourism Destination Management”, framed within the University of Summer of Lanzarote.

Ascen Toledo, Minister of Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, encouraged all interested parties to register and participate in the event, as well as to consult the Summer University program, as it always offers interesting and refreshing options. “We are delighted to celebrate the II edition of this format, which we hope will be very useful for professionals in the sector, as well as inspiring all attendees to contribute with sustainable initiatives to promote the island as a top-level sports destination,” she pointed out.

This year's program offers a firm commitment to institutional and sports leadership to analyze a strategic sector for the territorial development of the archipelago.

The University of Summer of Lanzarote is born from the collaboration between the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote (EUTL), affiliated with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), dependent on the Cabildo de Lanzarote, of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, and of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Thanks to the collaboration of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, through its brand Lanzarote Sports Destination, the course will feature Carolina Marín, Princess of Asturias Award 2024, Olympic, World, and European champion, as a special guest.

The athlete will give the keynote speech "The World as a Track: High-Performance Sport, Tourism, and Resilience", sharing her experience of overcoming challenges and the global impact of sport on society. This collaboration is part of Lanzarote Sports Destination's strategy to consolidate the island as an international benchmark in sports tourism, promoting spaces for reflection and training with top-level athletes and professionals who contribute to the sustainable development of the sector.

The event also foresees a first-class opening by the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, accompanied by Oswaldo Betancort, President of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, who will present the regional strategic vision on sports tourism. His intervention will pave the way for two intense days of lectures, workshops, and debate panels focused on product design, marketing, governance, and coexistence between residents and visitors.
