Comisiones Obreras has announced that the workers of the San Roque Senior Residence in Tinajo will begin mobilizations because they have been enduring "a limit situation for some time and can no longer bear it".
According to the union in a statement, the workers of said residence have been suffering "for years" a "brutal workload", "without the awarding company Clece, or the Cabildo having provided a solution to this very serious problem."
"The most serious thing is that the specifications are not being met, which currently establishes that there are three permanent positions but they are not being filled, something that has further weakened the staff, because we carry a workload that is honestly not normal, and we no longer know where to turn," says Delia Fernández, representative of the workers.
From CCOO they affirm "innumerable writings have been transferred to both parties, denouncing and explaining this situation, which is not new but has become seriously acute with the pandemic, without the conditions having improved".
For all this, they announce that on April 23, at 10:00 a.m., they will carry out a protest concentration at the workplace. "It is essential to find an immediate solution to this conflict to provide a dignified service to our elders. These colleagues work with people, not with merchandise, they need help," they say from CCOO, which makes a call "to the entire working class of the island" to participate in this call "in the defense of our elders and of the working people who care for them.”
