The XIV edition of the Lanzarote International Film Festival will be inaugurated next Monday at 6:00 p.m. with the first screening of the national feature film exhibition at the Teatro Insular in Arrecife. In total, 13 feature films and 95 short films will be offered. This year, the festival has broken a participation record, since the 2,000 short films presented in 2013 have increased to more than 2,400 in this edition.

Precisely, those in charge of deliberating on these short films will be the director Montxo Armendáriz, the actors Natalia Verbeke, Lluís Homar, Hiba Abouk and Unax Ugalde; the plastic artist Marina Anaya; the producer Puy Oria; the art director Teresa Die; the photographer Javier Alonso; the stage director and writer Iñigo Castanedo; and the designer and publicist Chany Gil. This cast will form the jury, which for the first time will also participate in the closing gala, directed by the artist Esteban Cedrés, which will be held on Saturday, April 5, with live music, theater and dance.

In the first week of this festival, the viewer will be able to enjoy 13 Spanish films: "Found in NYC", "Los Ilusos", "We All Want What's Best for Her", "Stockholm", "Black Diamonds", the documentary "The Teachers of the Republic", "Mon Petit", "Cannibal", "Son of Cain", "All the Women", "Zarafa", "La Herida" and the triumphant film in the last edition of the Goya awards, "Living Is Easy with Eyes Closed".

During the morning of Saturday the 29th, and prior to the screening of "Zarafa", a film chosen for the family audience, the winning works of the school short film contest convened this year will be screened. In the afternoon, four short films from the "Cinenómada" cycle, which disseminates African cinematography around the world, will be broadcast.
