An Air Europa Boeing 737 from Madrid, which was scheduled to arrive at Los Rodeos-Tenerife North airport, had to make an emergency landing at Tenerife South airport due to technical problems, as reported to ACN Press by sources from Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena).
The incident, which occurred at approximately 12:00 noon this Tuesday, resulted in no injuries and the landing was carried out normally, although it was the commander of the aircraft who gave notice of the situation and requested the emergency landing.
Tenerife South airport activated the Emergency Plan at 12:19 p.m. when the plane, with capacity for 183 passengers, landed at the aerodrome without any problems, according to the same sources.
AN INDICATOR CAME ON
According to Air Europa sources speaking to ACN Press, the commander of the plane detected that an indicator on the aircraft was reporting compensation problems, and given that the conditions for landing at Los Rodeos-Tenerife North airport were not the best: clouds, haze (suspended dust) and south wind, he decided to land at the other airport on the island: Tenerife South-Reina Sofía.
The same sources have indicated that company technicians are currently inspecting why that indicator on the plane came on, but have insisted that the landing was normal and that the commander of the aircraft decided to land in Tenerife South "since it offered more safety conditions."
They also specified that 151 passengers were traveling on Air Europa flight 9055.
