The César Manrique Foundation (FCM) will screen the documentary entitled "M", about the reality of unaccompanied foreign minors, next Thursday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m., in the José Saramago room (La Plazuela, Arrecife). A project of the Diputación de Cádiz with a script by journalist Nicolás Castellano. Afterwards, a discussion will be held between two of the protagonists, Aboubacar Drame and Mahamadou Danthioko, and the documentary's screenwriter.
This audiovisual work addresses the migratory drama and seeks to stir consciences through fourteen testimonies of people who arrived in Spain as minors (between the years 2000 and 2010) and were welcomed by various autonomous communities. A documentary, fifty minutes long, that narrates the arrival, adaptation and life of the migrants who, as of today, 23 years later, are professional athletes, social mediators, singers or students.
With these first-person accounts of their life experiences after a long time residing in Spain, Castellano wants to show the existence of diverse realities and thus banish the concepts often loaded with prejudices that, according to the journalist, "brings together the letter "M" with which this documentary is titled." Such as: migrant, Moor or mena; which are questioned with this work.
After viewing the documentary, a discussion will be held. Nicolás Castellano, a journalist specializing in content on migration, will participate; Aboubacar Drame, born in Gabon, but raised in Mali, (arrived in a boat to the Canary Islands in 2006 at the age of 17), now works as an educator in centers for foreign minors; and Mahamadou Danthioko, born in Mali, (arrived at the age of 15 to the Canary Islands), and thirteen years later is a mainstay A of the Tegueste Wrestling Club of Tenerife.
The screenwriter of the documentary, Nicolás Castellano, has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. Since 2000 he has developed his professional career at Cadena SER. For the past 18 years he has specialized in content on forced migration, following them both on the European shore and on the departure coasts of immigrants or their countries of origin or transit.
