More than 3,000 people enjoy the XVI Theater Cultural Week of San Bartolomé

The Theater Cultural Week, which was held from April 2 to 14, will keep the curtain open to host a new theatrical performance on May 4.

The San Bartolomé Theater Cultural Week brings together more than 3,000 people at the Municipal Theater, the streets of the municipality and the Santa Elena square, in Playa Honda, in its sixteenth edition. These are days for which the residents of San Bartolomé have responded with an "incredible reception" in all the theatrical performances that have taken place between April 2 and 14.

Although the official program has come to an end, the Theater Cultural Week will keep the curtain open to host next May 4 at the Municipal Theater at 8:30 p.m., ‘La comunidad de la naranja’ by SomoS Teatro, a theatrical performance that had to be postponed due to the weather alert on April 9.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted “the success of participation” that this 2024 edition has had and thanked the municipal theater groups for “their tireless work that has allowed San Bartolomé to become a cultural reference in the Canary Islands.”

“One more year, San Bartolomé has filled the stages of the Theater Cultural Week, showing the passion and commitment that the municipality has for culture and the performing arts, to which the town hall will continue to give all our support so that the municipal groups can continue to develop their work,” said Isidro Pérez.

The mayor wanted to congratulate all the staff who made the celebration of this week possible, especially the actors, actresses, directors, technicians, wardrobe, music, the municipal workers, technicians from the Culture area of the City Council and all the groups that have been part of the Theater Cultural Week Comi-K Teatro, Grupo de Teatro Ajei, Compañía Actúa, Teatreros y Comediantes, Timaginas Teatro, SomoS Teatro, Compañía Teatral Chespir, Raíces del Pueblo and Cosquillas Musicales.

For her part, the Councilor for Culture, Estefanía Luzardo, has valued the work carried out by the municipal theater groups “thanks to which, with their work, dedication, enthusiasm and commitment, the Theater Cultural Week is a reality every year.” In addition, she wanted to thank the response of the residents “who have shown their love and affection in all the performances that have taken place during these two weeks.”

The XVI Theater Cultural Week of San Bartolomé, which was held from April 2 to 14, has staged eight of the nine scheduled theatrical performances: ‘Tinder’ by Comi-K Teatro; ‘¡Qué malo es ser bueno!’ by the Ajei Theater Group; ‘Theatrical Route’ by Actúa Teatro; ‘Yo no he sido’ by Teatreros y Comediantes; ‘Piratas al Caribe’ by Timaginas Teatro; ‘La Lección’ by the Chespir Theater Company; ‘Taxi’ by Raíces del Pueblo; and ‘La jungla swinguera’ by Cosquillas Musicales.
