The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas has sentenced Ismael G.T., with non-computable criminal records for the purposes of recidivism, for raping a young woman in a house in Arrecife during the summer of 2022. Ismael acknowledged before the judges presiding over the Chamber that he raped the girl in a house after leaving a nightclub in the capital of Lanzarote.
The events date back to 6:30 a.m. on June 12 of last year. At that time, the accused left a nightclub, located on Manolo Millares street in Arrecife, and went to a house accompanied by other people and together with the victim.
The young woman had gone to her friend's house and, after 15 minutes, decided to go to the bathroom to see if she could reduce the effects of alcohol by taking a shower. Once in the bathroom, she took off her pants and got into the bathtub. "I don't remember much, I only know that I was in the shower and I felt a strong pain and it was that he was trying to insert his fingers into my anus," the victim said during the hearing held this Monday in Arrecife. She tried to ask him to stop, but he went on to penetrate her vaginally.
After that, Ismael G.T., who was the best friend of the young woman's ex-boyfriend, took her out of the shower, put her on the sink and penetrated her vaginally.
The Public Prosecutor's Office and the defense of Ismael G.T. have reached an agreement by which they have accepted a sentence of four years in prison, instead of the 12 that were initially requested.
Likewise, another four years of absolute disqualification during the term of the sentence, a restraining order of 300 meters from her home, work or any place frequented by the woman for five years, plus another five years of supervised release, as well as the payment of court costs.
